Recover Rapidly Card

Good afternoon! Yesterday, my mother-in-law had surgery on her back for a very painful bulging disk. That prompted me to make this Recover Rapidly Card. I used another card from my Pinterest inspiration board for the layout. I made a couple of changes because I love to repeat images in threes. The colors are Rich Razzleberry and Crumb Cake. The polka dot dsp is from the sale-a-bration Sycamore Street collection and I used the Square Lattice embossing folder. I masked and stamped the sentiment, punched it out with the Word Window punch and layered it onto the Modern Label punched card stock.  The embossed paper was easy to tear and the texture coordinates well with the bandages. Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Butterflies & Poppies Sympathy Card

Hello! Since I find sympathy cards a challenge to create, I decided to make another one. This Butterflies & Poppies Sympathy Card was based off a card I found on Pinterest (click here for inspiration card link). I used the Framed Tulips embossing folder for the outside detail and layered the center with the stamped poppies image. The colors are Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Island Indigo, Very Vanilla, and Crisp Cantaloupe. I inked the edges of the script paper by My Mind's Eye with Antique Linen distress ink from Tim Holtz. The final touch was the addition of the basic pearls on the butterflies. I'm definitely pleased with how this one turned out. Thanks for stopping by and have a fantastic day!

Star-Spangled Celebrate Card

It's been a long time since I've sang the Star-Spangled Banner. We used to sing it in grade school, a very long time ago.  Do you remember the lyrics???

Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

We are approaching the Fourth of July here in the United States and the inspiration for my card today was our flag. This Star-Spangled Celebrate Card has some broad stripes and bright silver stars to ignite your patriotic spirit. The stars were cut with the Cricut machine and I added some stitching for detail. The colors are Pacific Point and Whisper White from Stampin' Up! and the red stripe paper is by Recollections. The celebrate sentiment is from the TPC Studios greetings stamp set and I punched it out using my oval punches from Stampin' Up!. The final touch was a few rhinestones for some bling around the sentiment. Thanks for stopping by and have a terrific day!

MOO-tastic Birthday Card

Hello! A few months back I found this adorable stamp called Cowlik Butterfly by Stampendous and I knew it would be perfect for my cousin's birthday. Growing up her nickname was MOO. I don't know how that nickname was obtained but it stuck. To create this MOO-tastic Birthday Card I used the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches. I took some liberty and altered the sketch to accommodate the sentiment banner. I colored the image with my Copic markers and sponged the clouds with Bashful Blue (retired) from Stampin' Up! Thanks for stopping by and have a fantastic day!

Mixed Bunch Sympathy Card

It's never a good thing when you get a phone call that someone has passed away. My brother's brother-in-law was hit while riding his motorcycle yesterday and didn't survive. He leaves behind his wife, and two sons five and eighteen years old. It really breaks my heart for their family. Again it's a reminder of how quick it can happen. I'll never forget the Tuesday I lost my sister. There was no warning! In the matter of minutes our lives changed forever. The grief journey continues for our family and it's not a journey you want others to experience.

This Mixed Bunch Sympathy Card was made using the sketch from The Paper Players. I've rotated the sketch to accommodate a sentiment that I stamp inside the card. I'm trying to decide if the patterned paper is "too much" for a sympathy card??? Please let me know what you think. Thanks for stopping by!

Hello, it's me again! This morning we had a stamping get-together with several fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrators. We meet every couple of months and share ideas and stamp together. I'm in LOVE with the new Flower Shop stamp set, Pansy punch and Afternoon Picnic designer series paper. The colors Coastal Cabana, Crushed Curry, Pear Pizzazz and Wisteria Wonder are mixed with neutrals Basic Gray, Soft Suede and Very Vanilla. To create this card I used a sketch from Feeling Sketchy for the layout and combined a couple other challenges for the details. Thanks for stopping by!

Hexagon Hey There Card

Hooray it's Friday! I have a quick post to share this Hexagon Hey There Card I made using this weeks Freshly Made Sketch. I was determined to use my new hexagon punch* and Six-Sided Sampler stamp set* by Stampin' Up!. My new supplies arrived on my doorstep last week and they were just waiting for me to use them.  The polka dot patterned paper is from the Afternoon Picnic dsp and the accent colors are Strawberry Slush, Wisteria Wonder, Crushed Curry and Crisp Cantaloupe stamped onto Very Vanilla card stock. The Hey There sentiment is from the Paper Pumpkin starter kit and I stamped it in Baked Brown Sugar. To pull the color of the sentiment together with the rest of the card I used one of the itty bitty punches with Baked Brown Sugar card stock and created connectors for the hexagons. The final touch was a few small rhinestones. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!

Now I'm just cracking myself up!!!

Onto my card.... this Flutterby Thank You Card was made using the sketch from this weeks challenge at Flutter By Wednesday. I combined it with the colours from ColourQ and a couple other challenges to come up with the final combination. Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous day!

You're So Sweet Card

Hello! On Monday I took a quick trip to see my parents and nieces. While I was there I helped my nine year old niece make a couple of cards. She said she had fun and she did a wonderful job. So, I thought it would be nice to make her a card. This You're So Sweet Card was made for her. It features the Poppi Penguin - Popsicle digital stamp by Bugaboo Digi Stamps. I colored it with my Copic markers and added a little silver metallic marker to the lens of the sunglasses. The patterned paper is from the Party with Amy Locurto collection by Pebbles. Thanks for stopping by and have a fantastic day.

Sweet Berries Birthday Card

Happy Sunday! Hopefully you're enjoying your weekend. My weekends usually include an outside project or chore. I was outside watering the wild strawberries growing on the north side of my house when I remembered I have a strawberry digital stamp that I've never used. The card I'm sharing with you today features that digital image by Bugaboo Digi Stamps called Lace Berry. To create this Sweet Berries Birthday Card I used the sketch from the Seize the Birthday challenge. I colored the image with my Copic markers and added Cherry Cobbler dazzling details to add a little sparkle. The patterned paper was measured and pieced together and then I did a little stitching to add detail. Thanks for stopping by and have a crafty day!

Man of Steel Card

Oh boy, The Man of Steel Superman movie is in theaters and my hubby is ready to go see it. He's been talking about it for months and now it's time to see if it lives up to all the hype. That's the one bad thing about an iconic super hero movie, you either love them or you're disappointed. I'm always entertained but I don't care if the movie follows a "story line", but my hubby has a different opinion on this issue.

I made this Man of Steel Card for my husband. The chain focal image was made using the Superman Cricut cartridge. I cut the layers in various colors and layered them to get the finished project. I embossed one end of the white card stock with the Tim Holtz Riveted Metal embossing folder. The Superman patterned paper has been in my stash for a very long time just waiting for me to use it. I kept thinking I might make a scrapbook page but that could be years away... so I used it. Now, I have a special card to give to my Superman. Thanks for stopping by and have a SUPER day!!!

Punched Pansy Birthday Card

Hello! This afternoon I was checking on The Paper Players weekly challenge and realized there was only a day left to participate. It's a color challenge to use: Calypso Coral, Pool Party, So Saffron and Early Espresso. So, I decided to make this Punched Pansy Birthday Card for my friend who lives in Texas. Her birthday is exactly one month after mine, and yes....I'm older. Hmmm.... I don't think we want to talk about age so let's get back to the card. I was inspired by Amy O'Neill's card to use the new Flower Shop* stamp set and Pansy Punch* by Stampin' Up!. For the center of the flowers I used the heat and stick powder on Early Espresso card stock and topped it with Iridescent Ice powder. Then I punched the embossed card stock with the Itty Bitty Shapes punch and adhered to the center of the flowers. I really like how it looks and it's a nice alternative to a rhinestones or pearls. The Happy Birthday sentiment is from the Sassy Salutations stamp set and the edge of the card was created with the Adorning Accents Edgelits.  Thanks for stopping by!

Embossed Boho Blossoms Card

Last night I was searching color challenges and I came across the Color Throwdown challenge. I immediately knew I wanted to play along. I love Rich Razzleberry and Pear Pizzazz together. Once I had my colors selected I printed the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches and went to work. I decided to play along with Shopping Our Stash and use my oldest clear stamp (floral flourish by Inkadinkado) and I added a butterfly to play along with Flutter By Wednesday. The end result was this Embossed Boho Blossoms Card. The sketch was perfect to use my new Candy Dots by Stampin' Up! and luckily I ordered them in the bright colors. I didn't use a sentiment on the front to keep my options open. It has a nice feminine feel and could be used for almost any occasion. Thanks for stopping by!

Here for You Card

Wow... it's Wednesday already! This week is flying by and there is still a lot to do. The card I'm sharing with you today was probably the easiest card I've ever made. This Here for You Card is a casual design and the top note die gave the focal point interest without adding clutter. I've used Daffodil Delight card stock, En Francais stamp and the Blooming with Kindness stamp set. The flower was inked with Daffodil Delight then I rolled the edges and dabbed the center with More Mustard. I used a stampin' write marker in Gumball Green for the stem and stamped the sentiment with Baked Brown Sugar. The finishing touch was three small pearls and I popped the top note up with several dimensionals. A very quick and simple card that would be easy to duplicate in your favorite color scheme. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Go Confidently Card

Hello! I hope everyone is doing well this week. Today I have a quick post to share a card I made for one of my former students. She recently graduated from the career college where I worked. She got a job and has already received a promotion. I'm so proud of her and I wanted to surprise her with a fun card. This Go Confidently Card is all about the sentiment and bright colors. The colors are from the Sunday Stamps challenge to use Melon Mambo, Sahara Sand and Daffodil Delight. Since I don't have the Sahara Sand ink pad I focused on the Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight colors. There is no patterned paper on this card and that is unusual for me but I love the chevron embossed half circles. Thanks for stopping by and have a terrific day!

Sweet Little Donkey Card

Good morning fellow card enthusiasts! This weeks challenge at Card Makin' Mamas is titled "On the Farm" and it's the perfect challenge to use the Sweet Little Donkey image by Meljen's Designs. Many of you may already know that I grew up living in the country. My grandpa raised cattle and I had many neighbors who had donkeys. My sister and I always begged my parents for a donkey....but it was to no avail. It's not like we needed one, we just thought they were cute and therefore we should have one. Evidently that wasn't a convincing argument! Oh well... now I have my own sweet little donkey digital stamp and no feeding is required.

The design for this Sweet Little Donkey Card comes from the Sweet Sketch Wednesday challenge. I've colored the image with my Copic markers using warm gray colors and the patterned paper is from the On Trend collection by Crate Paper. Enjoy your day and thanks for stopping by!

Baseball Birdie Father's Day Card

Hello! This afternoon I made this Baseball Birdie Father's Day Card for my Dad. He loves baseball and the image from Doodle Pantry was too cute to pass up. I'm going to pretend this little birdie plays for the Oklahoma RedHawks minor league baseball team. We have many fond memories as a family attending baseball games together. So, it just made sense to make my Dad a baseball themed Father's Day card. To create this card the baseballs were cut from patterned paper by The Paper Studio and backed with black card stock. I played around with the placement but with the size of the baseballs there wasn't many likeable options. I inked around the edges of the background paper with a French blue chalk ink and used a sentiment stamp by Hero Arts. That's about it! Thanks for stopping by!

My Baseball Birdie Father's Day Card is entered into the following challenges:

Here is the sentiment I created for the inside of the card:

Baseball is a little like being a father, it's the small things over the course of the game that make a big difference. If you add up all the small things you've done for me over the years then you would win the World Series.

Happy Father's Day!

Heartfelt Sympathy Card

Making a sympathy card can be a challenge. I struggle deciding what colors to use. This Heartfelt Sympathy Card was made for one of my former roommates from college who recently lost her sister. Since the recipient is a woman I wanted the colors to be feminine but not bright. I choose Pear Pizzazz, Primrose Petals, Baked Brown Sugar and Whisper White card stock and stamped the butterflies with Marina Mist as an accent color. I loosely based the design off this weeks sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches and layered it up for the Charisma Cardz challenge. Most of my sympathy cards include a bird, flowers or butterflies in the design.  The flower and sentiment on this card is from the Simply Sketched hostess stamp set by Stampin' Up!. I stamped the image with StazOn black ink and used a blender pen to color the details.  The final touch was the addition of the pearls on the butterflies. Thanks for stopping by!

Fish Whisperer Card

Good afternoon! June is rolling right along and Father's Day will be here before we know it. I decided to play along with the many Masculine and Father's Day challenges, so I created this Fish Whisperer Card. My intentions are to give it to my Father-in-law for Father's Day, as long as the hubby likes it. The image is called Gus Fish Whisperer by Bugaboo Digi Stamps. I colored the image with my Copic markers and added some crystal effects to his glasses and the water under his feet. The design comes from the Stella Says Sketch challenge at the Catch The Bug Blog. The patterned paper is from the Hooked on Fishing collection by The Paper Loft and I've used Always Artichoke and More Mustard card stock by Stampin' Up! The blue card stock is from my stash and the source is unknown. This card was a lot of fun to make and I enjoyed working with the masculine colors. Now, I just wish someone would take me fishing. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Frolicing Cat Birthday Card

Hello! I hope you had a fantastic weekend. Mine was really busy! Saturday we spent with my family and Sunday we spent time outside. The weather yesterday was beautiful with a nice cool breeze! It really made it delightful to be outside. We've been working on a hardscape project and expanding a flower bed. It's been a bigger project than we originally anticipated but it will look a lot better when we're done.

Okay, onto my card... this Frolicing Cat Birthday Card was made for a friend. She loves cats and this adorable Penny Black stamp was perfect for her birthday. I used Perfect Plum, Bashful Blue and a touch of Primrose Petals card stock with Daffodil Delight patterned paper from the Gingham Garden dsp. I love the summer feel of the colors. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
